Naturanexa – Installation Guidelines & Warranty Terms

Important Installation Guidelines for Reclaimed Ulin Components

Naturanexa provides reclaimed ulin building components designed for long-term performance in tropical environments. To ensure the durability and safety of your project, please review and follow the guidelines below.

Qualified Installation

We strongly recommend the use of professional installers with proven experience in reclaimed ulin. Even skilled carpenters may require specific expertise due to the unique behavior of this material.

Naturally Durable Products

Naturanexa products such as joists, battens, pergolas, and stair steps are designed for outdoor or exposed environments and can withstand harsh tropical climates. However, we do not provide guarantees for use in climates with significant variations in humidity and temperature between seasons.

All items must always be installed in line with good building practices and national standards.

Structural Use & Engineering Disclaimer

Our products such as beams and structural components are supplied as building materials only. Naturanexa does not provide engineering services or resistance testing of any kind. It is the sole responsibility of the customer (or their appointed engineer/contractor) to verify compliance with national standards, load requirements, and safety regulations. Any damages, accidents, or injuries—including those leading to death—remain the full responsibility of the customer.

Installation Guidelines for Joists, Battens, Decking & Flooring

Naturanexa does not sell decking or flooring directly—these are provided through our partner, Kaltimber. However, since we supply joists and battens, we provide the following spacing and installation recommendations:

  • Joist/Batten Spacing

    • For heavy foot traffic: maximum 45 cm center-to-center.

    • For light to moderate traffic: up to 60 cm center-to-center.

  • Maximum Area

    • For flooring installations, do not exceed 40 m² in a single continuous area to avoid excessive expansion/contraction.

  • Expansion Gaps

    • Leave a minimum 1 cm gap against walls/structures.

    • Between planks: at least 6 mm for narrow planks and 8 mm for wider planks.

  • Airflow & Drainage

    • Ensure joists and battens allow proper airflow underneath the deck/floor.

    • Provide sufficient clearance for water evacuation to prevent moisture buildup.

  • Fastening

    • Always pre-drill and use appropriate wood screws.

    • Nails or nail guns must never be used.

  • Maintenance

    • Do not wash with water.

    • Stains are difficult or impossible to remove, particularly on rustic surfaces.

Natural Movement of Wood

Although our wood is naturally dried, reclaimed ulin is still a living material and will respond to its environment:

  • Moisture & Seasonality

    • Expect swelling in humid/wet seasons and shrinkage during dry seasons.

  • Indoor vs. Outdoor Environments

    • Differences in exposure (e.g., doors, windows, indoor/outdoor transitions) may cause visible movement.

This natural behavior is outside our control and does not reflect the quality of our material or workmanship. Customers acknowledge and accept this risk upon purchase.

Warranty Terms

  • Limited Warranty
Naturanexa offers a 25-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects and premature wear.

  • Exclusions

    • Warranty does not cover natural movement (expansion, shrinkage, cracks) due to environmental conditions.

    • Warranty is void if installation guidelines are not followed.

  • Bali Projects
Naturanexa will provide corrective assistance up to two times after installation.

  • International Projects
For projects outside Bali, corrective action is the exclusive responsibility of the customer. By purchasing Naturanexa materials, the customer acknowledges and accepts full responsibility for installation, maintenance, and long-term performance.

  • Documentation Required for Warranty Claims

    • Photos showing joist/batten spacing during installation.

    • Videos confirming expansion gaps after installation.

Consultation and Support

We are committed to supporting the successful completion of your project. Naturanexa can provide consultation and, when possible, on-site assistance. Depending on the nature of the request, this may be free of charge.

Contractor/Installer Responsibility

We expect contractors or installers to share our commitment to a successful installation. They must be fully capable of addressing any issues, whether caused by unintentional mistakes or otherwise.

Final Notes

Our goal is to ensure your reclaimed ulin project is both beautiful and durable. These guidelines exist to help you achieve that outcome.

By purchasing and installing Naturanexa products, you acknowledge and accept these guidelines, limitations, and responsibilities.
